LOVE, PASSION, AND FATE

MOVEMENT III: RECKONING

Saturday, February 6, 2027 at 7:30 PM

Adults $30 | Students (ages 17 and under) $10 | Children (5 and under) FreeJames Lumber Center, College of Lake County
19351 W Washington St, Grayslake, IL 60030

Forget the traditional Valentine's concert — this is a night of grand, theatrical drama in two acts. The first half, The Spark of Passion & Obsession, opens with Svendsen's sweeping Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, softens into the tender ache of Elgar's Salut d'Amour, and builds through Massenet's dramatic Overture to Phèdre. After a brief intermission, the second half — The Grip of Fate & Ultimate Sacrifice — turns darker and more urgent: Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre (featuring a concertmaster solo), a suite of selections from Sibelius' Pelléas and Mélisande, and Massenet's Méditationfrom Thaïs as a grand solo finale.

It's an evening built like grand opera without the words — obsession, sacrifice, longing, and destiny, told entirely through the orchestra.

Meet our guest conductor

Alexandra Enyart

Guest conductor Alexandra Enyart makes her Lake County Symphony Orchestra debut this February. Praised by the Chicago Theatre Review as “one of Chicago's greatest operatic gifts” and by Chicago Classical Review as “a podium talent to watch,” Enyart currently serves as Artistic Director of Chicago City Opera and has conducted for companies including The Atlanta Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, and the Australian Contemporary Opera Company. She is a Chicago Sinfonietta Fellow and a “Turn the Spotlight” fellow under Chicago Opera Theatre music director Lidiya Yankovskaya, and serves on the Artistic Advisory Council for American Opera Projects.

Enyart made her international debut with the Tomsk Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia in 2016 while completing her Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Louisville, where she also served as apprentice conductor with the Louisville Orchestra and Kentucky Opera and as Assistant Conductor of the Louisville Youth Orchestra. She won the CODA Conducting Competition in 2017 and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's Mozart Overture Conducting Competition in 2018.

A committed champion of new music, Enyart has helped bring works including As One, When Adonis Calls, and Patience and Sarah to the stage, and continues to support emerging singers through her work with the Chicago Vocal Arts Consortium, where she has led productions of La finta giardiniera, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, and L'elisir d'amore. She considers conducting both an honor and a privilege, and brings that same care to every company she works with.
