On Friday, May 8, 2026, the Lake County Symphony Orchestra returns to the James Lumber Center in Grayslake for Roots & Resonance, a concert featuring a carefully curated program of chamber orchestral works under the direction of guest conductor Eli Chen.
This concert will explore music written and arranged within the last two decades, performed by a chamber-sized ensemble that allows each musician to take a more prominent, soloistic role. The program includes:
- Michael-Thomas Foumai – Concerto Grosso (2015)
- Sepehr Pirasteh – When They Broke Down the Door! (2021, reorchestrated for LCSO)
- Klaus Simon – Mahler Symphony No. 4 (2007 arrangement for chamber orchestra)
The evening promises a mix of contemporary works and a reimagined Mahler symphony, giving audiences the chance to hear familiar and new music in a fresh, intimate setting. Tickets are available now, and seating is limited.
